Hanna Araza

Communications & Engagement Specialist

Hanna (she/her/hers) is the Communications and Engagement Specialist at West Coast Environmental Law. As a first-generation immigrant settler, Hanna is grateful to live on traditional, ancestral, and unceded Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and səl̓ilwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) homelands.

Hanna holds a BA Communications and Print & Digital Publishing degree from Simon Fraser University. Prior to West Coast, her past experiences include work with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, Apathy is Boring, Media Democracy Days, and the SFU Centre for Dialogue. Hanna is passionate about intersectional environmentalism and is deeply committed to centering marginalized voices within justice-based movements. She is curious and excited to channel her creative eye and critical lens toward advancing this meaningful work – using writing and community engagement as vital tools for strengthening collective care and efficacy.

Outside of work, Hanna enjoys picnics, making zines, watching Bake-off, and earl grey-flavoured desserts.
